Weather Songs

What’s the Weather?
(Tune: “Oh, My Darling Clementine”)

What’s the weather, what’s the weather?
What’s the weather outside?
Outside, what’s the weather?
What’s the weather outside?

(Insert different types of weather:
sun is shining, rain is falling,
wind is blowing, it is cloudy)

Mister Sun

Oh Mister Sun, Sun,
Mister Golden Sun,
Please shine down on me

Oh Mister Sun, Sun,
Mister Golden Sun,
Hiding behind a tree. . .

These little children are asking you
To please come out so we can play with you

Oh Mister Sun, Sun,
Mister Golden Sun,
Please shine down on…
Please shine down on…
Please shine down on me.

Once There was a Snowman

Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman
Once there was a snowman tall, Tall, TALL
In the sun he melted, melted melted
In the sun he melted small, Small, SMALL

If all the Raindrops

If all the raindrops
were lemon drops and gum drops
Oh what a rain that would be!

Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah

If all the raindrops
Were lemon drops and gum drops
Oh what a rain that would be!

If all the snowflakes
were candy bars and milkshakes
Oh what a snow that would be!

Standing outside with my mouth open wide
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah

If all the snowflakes
were candy bars and milkshakes
Oh what a snow that would be!

You are My Sunshine

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away!

Rainbow Colors
Sung to: "Hush, Little Baby"

Rainbow purple, rainbow blue
Rainbow green and yellow, too
Rainbow orange, rainbow red
Rainbow smiling overhead.

Come and count the colors with me
How many colors can you see?
One, two, three, down to green,
Four, five, six can be seen

Rainbow purple, rainbow blue,
Rainbow green and yellow, too.
Rainbow orange, rainbow red,
Rainbow smiling overhead.

Blow, Blow, Blow the Wind
(Tune: "Row, Row, Row Your Boat")

Blow, blow, blow, the wind
Gently through the trees.
Blow, and blow, and blow, and blow.
How I like a breeze!
Blow, blow, blow the clouds,
Blow them through the sky.
Blow, and blow, and blow, and blow.
Watch the clouds roll by!

Rain Is Falling

Rain is falling all around,
On the housetops, on the ground.
Rain is falling on my nose.
On my head and hands and toes.

Repeat:
Snow is falling ... , Wind is blowing...
Sun is shinning...

The Wind
(Tune: "Skip to my Lou")

The wind is full of tricks today
It almost blew me far away
It almost blew me off my feet
As I went walking down the street!
The next time that I go outside
The wind won't take me for a ride
Cause I know just what I will do. . .
I'll put some glue on the bottom of my shoe!

Sunny
(Tune: "Bingo")

There was a day,
When it was hot and sunny was the weather
S U N N Y
S U N N Y
S U N N Y
And sunny was the weather.
**Other Verses
When it was wet and rainy was the weather
When it was cold and snowy was the weather
When I got blown and windy was the weather

Rain is Falling on You
(Tune: "Happy Birthday")

Rain is falling on you,
Rain is falling on me,
Rain is falling on everyone,
Rain is falling, YIPPEE!!

Snowflakes Falling Down
(Tune: "Row, Row, Row your Boat")

Snowflakes falling down,
Falling to the ground.
Big, white fluffy flakes
That do not make a sound.

I'm a Little Sunflower
(Tune: "I'm a Little Teapot")

I'm a little sunflower bright and yellow
Here is my stem and here are my petals.
When the sun comes out, just watch me grow.
I'll come out and say "Hello"!

Flower Garden
(Tune: "The Farmer in the Dell")

The farmer plants the seeds
The farmer plants the seeds
Hi, Ho, Cheery O
The farmer plants the seeds
**Other Verses
The wind begins to blow...
The rain begins to fall...
The sun begins to shine...
The plants begin to grow...
or
The seeds begin to grow...
The flowers smile at us...
or
The farmer cuts the grain...

The Rain
(Tune: "Sing a Song of Sixpence")

Pitter patter raindrops
falling from the sky.
Here is my umbrella
to keep me safe and dry.
When the rain is over
the sun begins to glow.
Little flowers start to bud
and grow and grow and grow.

Did You Ever See a Cloud?
(Tune: "Did You Ever See a Lassie")

Did you ever see a cloud,
a cloud, a cloud.
Did you ever see a cloud
that looked like a bear?
A big one, a little one
a lazy one, a funny one.
Did you ever see a cloud
that looked like a bear?

Did you ever see a cloud
a cloud, a cloud.
Did you ever see a cloud
that looked like a plane?
A big one, a little one,
a fast one, a slow one.
Did you ever see a cloud
that looked like a plane?

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da Zip-A-Dee-Ay
My, oh my, what a wonderful day!
Plenty of sunshine heading my way.
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da Zip-A-Dee-Ay
Mr. Bluebird's on my shoulder.
It's the truth, it's actual.
Everything is satisfactual.
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da Zip-A-Dee-Ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!

One Little Raindrop
(Tune: "If You're Happy and You Know It")

One little raindrop hit the ground,
and another little raindrop hit the ground.
And another, and another, and another, and another.
Until we hear, a very different sound!
SPLASH!!!

Snow Pants
tune: Here we go round the mulberry bush

This is the way we put on snow pants,
Put on snow pants, put on snow pants.
This is the way we put on snow pants,
All on a snowy morning.

This is the way we put on ...
our boots
our coat
our scarf
our hat
our mittens

Sun is peeking out
(wiggle fingers down, slap both thighs on Splash!)
Rain is falling down, splash
rain is falling down, splash
pitter patter, pitter patter
rain is falling down, splash

(cover face with hands and peek-a-boo on Peek!)
Sun is peeking out, peek
sun is peeking out, peek
peeking here, peeking there
sun is peaking out, peek!

LOOK OUTSIDE
tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle"

Look outside now, can you say
What the weather is today?
Is there sunshine, is there rain?
Is wind blowing down the lane?
Look outside now, can you say
what the weather is today?

Look outside now, can you say
what the weather is today?
ARe there snowflakes falling down,
are there big clouds floating around?
Look outside now, can you say
what the weather is today?

Prop idea: have old big box cut out like a house
with a window kids can stand "inside" and look
out and have other kids hold up appropriate props
outside of house.

Weather fingerplays

Boom, Bang!

Boom, bang, boom, bang;
Rumpety, thumpety, bump!
Zoom, zam, zoom, zam;
Clippety, clappety, clump!
Rustles and bustles, swishes and zings-
What wonderful noises a thunderstorm brings!

Touch Your Nose

Touch your nose, touch your chin;
That’s the way this game begins.
Touch your eyes, touch your knees;
Now pretend you’re going to sneeze.
Touch your hair, touch one ear;
Touch your two lips right here
Touch your elbows where they bend;
That’s the way this touch game ends.

Trickery

The big round sun in the morning sky,
Winked at a cloud that was passing by.
The gray cloud laughed as it scattered rain,
Then out came the big round sun again.

Falling Raindrops

Raindrops, raindrops, falling all around.
Pitter-patter on the rooftops,
Pitter-patter on the ground.
Here is my umbrella,
It will keep me dry;
When I go walking in the rain,
I hold it up so high.

A Rainbow Fair

When the rain falls from the sky,
Don’t forget to look up high.
If the sun is shining there,
You may see a rainbow fair.
Red, orange, yellow, green, and blue
And you’ll see there’s purple too.

I Will Build a Snowman

I will build a snowman,
Make him big and tall.
See if you can hit him
With a big snowball.

Kite Flying

On a windy day,
Pick a kite, I say!
Send it on its way.
Give it lots of string to play,
Watch it dip and sway.
Hold tight! Don’t let it get away!

Spring

Put up your umbrella
When the rain comes down
Wear a happy smile
Wipe away a frown.
Splash in all the puddles,
Do a little dance.
Rain is just the thing we need
For new spring-time plants

Five Little Snowmen

Five little snowmen, fat.
Each with a funny hat.
Out came the sun and it melted one.
What do you think of that?
Down, down, down, down.
What do you think of that?
**(Repeat four, three, two, one)

Five Little Flowers

Five little flowers standing in the sun,
See their heads nodding, bowing one by one?
Down, down, down falls the gentle rain
And the five little flowers lift their heads again.

Rain

With a drip, drip, drip
And a drop, drop, drop
See the rain on the pane:
Will it stop, stop, stop?

With a wink, wink, wink,
And a blink, blink, blink,
Will we see sun again,
Do you think, think, think?

Falling Raindrops

Raindrops, raindrops, falling all around.
Pitter-patter on the rooftops,
Pitter-patter on the ground.
Here is my umbrella,
It will keep me dry;
When I go walking in the rain,
I hold it up so high.

Snow

Snow on my forehead, (touch forehead)
Snow on my knee, (touch knee)
Snow on my glasses, (touch eyes)
Getting hard to see.
Snow on my boots, (touch shoes)
Snow on my hair, (touch hair)
Snow on my mittens, (touch hands)
Snow everywhere. (Wave hands all over)

March Rhyme

March winds blow kites around,
Blow them right up off the ground. (swing hands down, then up)
March means spring is almost here,
Sounds of birds you soon will hear. (cup hand behind ear)
Watch the leaves sprout on the trees,
Soon you'll see some honeybees. (Make buzzing sounds)

The big round sun

The big round sun in a springtime sky (circle with arms)
Winked at a cloud that was passing by (Wind eye)
The little cloud laughed as it scattered rain, (flutter fingers downward)
Then out came the big round sun again. (Circle with arms)

valentine cookies

I found this idea on Crafty Crow and thought it would be fun to make for music makers. I used them during fingerplays (5 pretty valentines). The kids loved them! They were really easy to make, all hand sewn, and my kids had fun putting on the "sprinkles".
